Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed that the amount of Rs 1,200 given for school uniforms, bags and shoes to the children of council schools should reach the parents’ accounts within a month. Designate DM nodal officer and get this work done with the help of BSA. He also said that playgrounds and open gyms should be made on the land near the schools. The Revenue Department should cooperate in this. This instruction was given by the Chief Minister on the occasion of the launch of School Chalo Abhiyan and Communicable Disease Control Program at Lok Bhavan. He said that not a single child should be deprived of going to school and no child should fall prey to communicable diseases. This is our responsibility.

The School Chalo campaign was started in 2017. At that time the number of children in schools in the state was 1.34 crore. It has now increased to 1.92 crores.

Increased facilities in schools

CM Yogi said that the school buildings were dilapidated. There were no even basic facilities. A uniform was given, that too after the end of the session. Children used to come to school barefoot. We started giving two uniforms, bags and shoes and socks. The CM said that out of 1.56 lakh schools in the state, 1.36 lakh schools have been renovated. The remaining 20 thousand will also be rejuvenated soon.

Prepare panchayat database

The CM said that along with the School Chalo Abhiyan, the teacher and principal should talk to the parents. Do door-to-door screening. Prepare a database there and prepare the report card of your Panchayat. This database should be uploaded on the portal of Basic Education Council. This will help us plan ahead and get the kids to school.
