Rampur: In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s legislature was canceled after he was convicted in an old case of hate speech. The MP-MLA court has acquitted him in this case. Akash Saxena of Bharatiya Janata Party won the by-election by defeating SP candidate Asim Raza. Now MLA Akash has also been issued a notice by the High Court. In such a situation, his assembly membership is in danger.

In the Rampur assembly by-election, Akash Saxena, who contested from the BJP, won the election by defeating Azam’s close SP candidate Asim Raza by a margin of 33,000 votes. However, soon after the election, Asim Raza had moved the High Court. He accused Akash Saxena of rigging the election. In the same case, a notice has now been issued to Akash by the High Court.

After the demolition of Azam’s fort in Rampur, Asim Raza, who went to the High Court against Akash, had alleged that the election was rigged. He said that many tactics were adopted by the BJP candidate to stop the voters of a particular category from voting. He appealed here to cancel the election of Akash Saxena and hold fresh elections. Under the notice issued now, Akash Saxena will have to file his reply by the first week of August.
