Government strict on strike of electricity employees in UP, said- action will be taken under ESMA and Rasuka
Lucknow: The talks between the power workers and the government on Thursday also failed. The deadlock on both sides seems to be increasing. The workers are on strike for 72 hours, while the government has warned of action under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) if the public is inconvenienced. Describing the strike as anti-people, Power Minister AK Sharma said that the services of contractual and outsourcing employees would be terminated from the day they are found absent. If the strike turns violent and government properties are damaged, action will be taken against the culprits under Rasuka. Meanwhile, actions have also started against the striking employees. The agitating assistant engineer was arrested in Maharajganj. Five outsourcing employees were sacked in Mahoba. Action has been reported in many districts including Prayagraj.

After the talks failed, Sharma said at a press conference at Shakti Bhavan in the evening, “We are ready for talks, but they are adamant on dogma.” When the 2020 agreements have not yet been fully implemented, then how is the strike on the agreement made three months ago justified? The minister said that half-a-dozen employees’ unions have abstained from the strike. Action will be taken under Rasuka even if the employees willing to work are stopped. The district administration has been asked to monitor the situation.
