Electricity employees strike in UP in protest against privatization, Mahoba DM terminates service of 5 contract workers
Vishal Verma, Mahoba: The contract workers of the Electricity Department have gone on strike in every district of Uttar Pradesh to protest against privatization, regarding which the State Government and the Energy Minister, adopting a strict attitude, have also instructed the DMs of the districts to take strict action. Its effect was seen in Mahoba district. DM Manoj Kumar has given instructions to terminate the services of 5 electrical contract workers and register an FIR.

The electricity contract workers in the state had announced a 72-hour work boycott regarding their 14-point demands and went on strike from Thursday. Because of this, the power system broke down in many districts and at some places the common people blocked the roads. Taking this matter seriously, the government asked the District Magistrates of the state to adopt a strict attitude and if they did not agree, they would end their service. On the orders of the government, the Mahoba DM has directed to terminate the services of 5 electrical contract workers and register an FIR and instructions have also been given to replace them with new personnel.

Allegations of anti-promise on the government

In the entire state, the employees of the Electricity Department are staging a work boycott strike regarding their 14-point demands. The effect of which is also visible on the power supply. In Mahoba’s Kirat Sagar power sub-station, all the electrical workers are shouting slogans against the government’s promise with placards in their hands. In such a situation, DM’s strict action has also come to the fore regarding the faulty electrical system. Describing the strike of electrical workers as illegal, DM Manoj Kumar terminated the service of 5 contract workers. Even after being an outsourced worker, he was involved in the strike, for which the DM has shown strictness.

Outsourced company blacklisted

DM Manoj Kumar has terminated the services of Arthav, Dilshad, Kalicharan, Rajbahadur and Salim working on contract. The DM clearly said that if there is any impact on the power system, no one will be spared. At the same time, the DM has given instructions to blacklist the outsourced company as well. During this, the DM also checked the power supply arrangements by reaching the power sub-station, for which technical officers of revenue and other departments have been deployed in the presence of duty magistrate. Police duty has also been imposed in the electrical sub-centre. Due to the strict action of the District Magistrate, there has been a stir among the employees of the Electricity Department.

At the same time, DM Manoj Kumar said that the electrical contract workers on whom action has been taken were outsourced employees. These people had participated in the strike against the rules, whose services have been terminated, now they will not be able to work in the electricity department anywhere in the state.
