DDU Journalism: Gorakhpur University will now study journalism on 4 plus 1 formula, know how to get degree

Pramod Pal, Gorakhpur: Journalism course is going to be conducted on the basis of 4 plus 1 formula in Deendayal Upadhyay University (DDU) of Gorakhpur. Students will no longer have to take admission twice for degrees, nor will they have to travel to other cities for post-graduation after graduation. For the convenience of journalism students, the university is now in the process of starting joint courses.

DDU has made preparations to start joint courses under the new education policy for the convenience of journalism students. Under this, now students will not have to take admission twice separately for graduation and post graduation, they will be awarded BA and MA degree on the basis of 4 plus 1 formula. For this, they have to take admission only once. In the 5-year BA MA in Journalism and Mass Communication course, the first 4 years will be graduation, in the last 1 year there will be post graduation. Let us tell you that earlier in DDU only education was done till BJ. Students had to go far for the degree of Masters. From last year the studies of Masters also started, but after this course students will be able to get all the degrees under one roof.

According to Professor Deepak Prakash Tyagi, Chairman of the Department of Hindi and Journalism, on the formula of 4 plus 1, the Department of Journalism of the University has prepared undergraduate and postgraduate courses in journalism, mass communication. Admission to this course will start from the new session. Till now BJ’s course in journalism used to run here, MJ’s course was started from last year itself. Now according to the new education policy, all the courses can be conducted jointly.

He told that one of the advantages of this course is that there will be no pressure on any student to complete it, the student will be free to separate himself from the course every year. Despite this he will not have to return empty handed, year after year he will be entitled to one or the other certificate. Even if the student leaves the course after 1 year, he will be given a certificate, after 2 years he will be given a diploma certificate. Wherein the student who completes 3 years will be able to get Bachelor’s degree and the one who completes 4 years will get Bachelor’s Honors degree, the student who completes 5 years will be able to get Bachelor’s and Masters’ degree jointly.
