Shadab Rizvi, Bareilly: In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, a woman was harassed for not having a child even after 34 years of marriage. It is alleged that on Wednesday, the husband and step-in-law’s brothers beat the woman mercilessly with sticks. Throwing a stone on his head made him half-dead. The seriously injured woman was admitted to the hospital. The woman’s brother lodged an FIR against five including her husband on Thursday. Police say the woman is out of danger. Several places were raided on Thursday to arrest the accused.

Matlub Ali Khan, a resident of Dharupur Thakuran village under Bithri Chainpur police station area of ​​Bareilly, told the police that his sister Shahida Bano was married 34 years ago to Sharafat Ali in Thiriya village of the same district. Shahida has not had a child till date. It is alleged that therefore husband Sharafat Ali married a woman named Nagina 20 years ago. Nagina has 3 children. Shahida lived with her husband Sharafat Ali, sister-in-law Nagina and children. But for not having a child, Shahida was constantly harassed by her husband, step-in-law and in-laws.

Matlub Ali Khan alleges that his nephew Mansoor Ali had gone to deliver milk to Shahida’s house at nine in the morning on Wednesday. He found Shahida lying on the ground covered in blood. Accused husband Sharafat Ali, her brother Riyasat Ali, sister-in-law Nagina’s brother Kallu, Rashid were thrashing Shahida with sticks and stones. On reaching Mansoor Ali, the accused fled. The parents admitted Shahida to the hospital. On Thursday, on the Tahrir of the victim’s brother, a report has been filed against five people including husband Sharafat Ali.
