Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022: Harak was a ‘rebel’ for Congress till yesterday, now he will enter the fray as a star campaigner

Former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat, who has been known as Ujayadu Bald (destroyer bull) of Congress’s political farm till yesterday, will now work to make the party’s political ground green. He entered the Congress party only after multiplying the profit and loss due to his return. In such a situation, the party can field him as a star campaigner in all the seats of the Garhwal parliamentary constituency under the influence of Harak.

Harak Singh can prove to be a trump card for the party to launch a political attack on the BJP. Five days after being expelled from the BJP, with the entry of the Congress party, the debate has started on the pros and cons of Harak Singh Rawat being taken into the party. After the incident of the year 2016, the way in which there was a war of words between former CM Harish Rawat and Harak Singh Rawat, all kinds of speculations were being made about his re-entry in the party. But now after his return to the party, it has also been decided that the Congress will use Harak Singh Rawat’s political status to get back its lost political ground.

Strong hold on eight seats

Harak Singh Rawat is considered to have a strong hold on eight seats in the Garhwal parliamentary constituency. After the formation of the state, he has been an MLA from Lansdowne, Rudraprayag and Kotdwar. Apart from these seats, he is considered to have good penetration in Rudraprayag, Kedarnath, Pauri, Srinagar and Chaubattakhal region. Srinagar is also his home, so Harak also started student politics from here.

Harak Singh Rawat had reached the assembly in the year 2002 by winning from Lansdowne seat on Congress ticket. He also won the same seat in the 2007 elections. After this, he changed his seat in the 2012 elections and went to Rudraprayag. Here too, he continued his political threat and won. After the rebellion of the year 2016, he again changed the seat and contested the 2017 election from Kotdwar on a BJP ticket and won.

Along with this, it has also been said that he will campaign for the party in the entire state, especially in all the seats of Garhwal. The party knows that Harak Singh’s supporters are in both the BJP-Congress parties. Which she wants to convert into votes for the party.
