Former Collector of Siddipet has been spotted in the High Court. Court contempt notices were issued against him. It is learned that Venkatrama Reddy, the Siddipet Collector, had made controversial remarks till a few days ago. The remarks were made in order to say that rice was not being harvested in the district. He warned that no one should sell rice seeds and strict action would be taken against them. He said he did not care if the Supreme Court ordered it. The petition filed in the High Court on Tuesday was heard in this regard. The High Court directed Venkatrami Reddy to give an explanation on this. Not only that, but also to apologize. However, Advocate General BS Prasad, who is hearing the government’s arguments on the issue, was present in person. He told the court that he would apologize to Collector Venkatramireddy. He would register his statement and submit it to the court. The High Court then adjourned the hearing for four weeks. Subender Singh and J. Shankar have filed a petition in the High Court challenging the government’s acceptance of his resignation. However, counsel for the petitioner told the court that their petition was not successful as the nomination process for the MLC had already been completed.
