After ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ got the Oscar award, this Tamil documentary immediately attracted foreigners. Some of the foreigners who have already seen this documentary are on a trip to India and they are all going to the elephant camp. Raghu, the Gunna elephant who starred in the documentary, and Ammu, another elephant, are cringing.

‘I am from London. We’re here to meet and learn about two Oscar-winning baby elephants. It was a pleasure to see them. I love elephants. I feel lucky to see them today,’ the tourist Grace told news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, the documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ was made with the story of Boman and Belly, a husband and wife who took care of two orphaned baby elephants in the Madumalai Tiger Reserve. The documentary is directed by Karthiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneeth Monga. Both of them received the Oscar trophy at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony held on Monday.
After receiving the Oscar trophy, the director said to Karthi.. ‘I have come here today to talk about the sacred bond between us and our nature. I came to honor the tribals. We take them into our lives to preserve the existence of other beings. In the end we live with them. Thanks to the Academy for recognizing our film that highlights tribals and animals. Thanks to Netflix for believing in the power of this movie. Thanks to my producer Guneeth, the film crew, my parents and sister. You all are my strength. Thank you to my motherland India’ he said proudly.
However, this is not the first time that producer Guneeth Monga has won an Oscar award. In 2019 Monga’s documentary ‘Period: End of Sentence’ also won an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category. If not, many people don’t know about this.
