The movie ‘Simhadri’, directed by SS Rajamouli starring Jr NTR as the hero, was released in 2003 and became a sensational success. At that time the industry became an all time hit. In the current re-release trend, the movie ‘Simhadri’ was released again after 20 years on 20th of this month to celebrate NTR’s birthday. In fact, ‘Simhadri’ has followed the trend of re-release like never before in Tollywood. A lyrical song was released for a re-released film. Also, the trailer was also launched. A tremendous buzz was created. This movie was released in overseas as well.

Junior NTR fans thought to create a record with the re-release of ‘Simhadri’. As expected, records were rewritten with the re-release of this film. The re-released ‘Simhadri’ collected Rs 5.2 crore gross worldwide on its first day. Till date no re-released film has collected such amount on the first day. Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s blockbuster movie ‘Khushi’ is on top till now with Rs.4.15 crore gross on the first day. Now ‘Simhadri’ has passed that movie. There is a difference of Rs.1 crore between the first day gross of these two films. With this, ‘Simhadri’ set an all-time record.

So far there are nine Telugu films which have been re-released and grossed more than one crore rupees on the first day. Among them, ‘Simhadri’ is at the first position, while ‘Khushi’ is at the second position with Rs.4.15 crores. ‘Jalsa’ is at the third position with Rs.3.20 crores. ‘Okkadu’ (Rs 2 crore) is fourth, ‘Pokiri’ (Rs 1.73 crore) is fifth, ‘Deshamuduru’ (Rs 1.58 crore) is sixth, ‘Orange’ (Rs 1.53 crore) is seventh, ‘Chennakeshavareddy’ ‘ (Rs. 1.10 crores) is at the eighth position and ‘Billa’ (Rs. 1.05 crores) is at the ninth position.

Meanwhile, ‘Simhadri’ is NTR’s seventh film as a hero. With this film, NTR craze and the market have increased. Director SS Rajamouli’s name was also heard strongly. Ankita and Bhumika are the heroines opposite NTR in this movie. Nazar, Bhanuchander, Mukesh Rushi, Rahul Dev, Sarath Saxena, Seetha, Brahmanandam played key roles. The music rendered by MM Keeravani became a sensation at that time. A new Keeravani was introduced through this movie. This movie, which was made with a budget of around Rs.8.5 crores, has collected more than Rs.25 crores share.
