Copyright case registered against Congress for using KGF song.. Rahul Gandhi

Bengaluru City Police on Friday filed an FIR against Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, Congress Social Media Head Supriya Sreenate and senior leader Rahul Gandhi for using songs from the movie KGF 2 for Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign without any prior permission. The copyright infringement case was registered following a complaint by MRT Music Company, which owns the rights to KGF 2 music. MRT Music Company issued a press note to this effect on Friday.

MRT Music, which stated that their company has the music rights of more than 20 thousand Kannada, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil songs, has revealed that they have invested a lot of money for these rights. It said that ‘KGF Chapter 2’ Hindi movie is one of the big films for which they have music rights. However, the Indian National Congress has claimed that KGF has used Chapter 2 songs without obtaining any permission or license from MRT Music. It said that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign videos have used their songs. As this comes under copyright infringement, they have filed a complaint with the Yeswantpur police.

The legal council of MRT Music Company revealed that these illegal actions by a national political party reflect the party’s disregard for the law and the rights of private individuals. The political party which is organizing the Bharat Jodo Yatra to form the government and make laws to protect the rights of common citizens and businessmen is of the opinion that it is not appropriate to do this. The Council stated that the MRT Music Company has registered a case against the Congress party based on their legal rights, but their company has no intention of harming the reputation of any political party.
