Saleswaram Jathara in Nallamala: Discord took place in the Saleswaram Jathara, popularly known as Telangana Amarnath Yatra. Three people died on the spot due to suffocation as devotees flocked to the fair. 55-year-old Gudugu Chandraiah of Nagar Kurnool town died of heart attack. 32-year-old Abhishek of Vanaparthi town and 40-year-old Vijayal of Aman Gal were reported to have died of suffocation. While some others were seriously injured in this process, the police and their relatives shifted them to a private hospital for better treatment. A large number of devotees flocked to the Saleswaram fair in the forests this year. In this order, the road leading to the Saleswaram temple was filled with Anka devotees. You have to wait for a long time to even take a step. Also Mannanur Vehicular traffic has come to a standstill on the roads leading to the Saleswaram fair. However, previously the Saleswaram fair was held for a week to ten days.
This year, the temple authorities have decided to hold it for three days. Devotees are flocking in large numbers in this order. Due to the large number of people, the situation was completely messed up. As they were pushing as they liked…many died. Others were injured.
NagarKurnool District NagarSaleswaram, situated in the Nallamala forests, has a deity of Lingamayya. But to visit this Swami one has to travel through dense forest, hills, slopes and valleys. In the middle of the route, one has to walk for about 5 kms, crossing stones and rocks. This Saleswaram fair starts on the first full moon after Ugadi. Lakhs of devotees flock from Telangana, AP, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu along with the combined district to visit Saleswaram Lingamayya. But this year Saleswaram started on 5th April and will end on 7th. Devotees are allowed to enter the forest only from 7 am to 5 pm. This fair will be completed tomorrow.
