Classes have to start in new medical colleges from July! Minister Harish Rao’s order!

Medical Health Minister T. Harish Rao ordered to complete the arrangements for starting classes in the newly sanctioned medical colleges in Telangana by July. The recruitment process of assistant professors and associate professors in 9 new medical colleges in the state should be completed quickly. District Collectors and Principals of Medical Colleges have been advised to speed up the work by solving the problems faced locally with the cooperation of Ministers and MLAs regarding construction and other infrastructure.

Minister held a review meeting on March 28 through Zoom on the progress of work in new medical colleges. The concerned district ministers, MLAs, Collectors should show initiative to speed up the work. It is suggested to provide necessary furniture and equipment for the college and to prepare hostels with all facilities.

In terms of teaching staff..

Infrastructural development of nine new medical colleges in the state will become crucial. The situation at the field level is different from the government’s idea of making colleges fully ready for admissions in the current academic year. The government is working to make available 900 MBBS seats by opening nine new medical colleges in the state this year. New medical colleges are being established in Karimnagar, Khammam, Vikarabad, Bhupalapalli, Kamareddy, Janagam, Sirisilla, Nirmal, Asifabad. The National Medical Council (NMC) has to allow the admission of students in these. The NMC teams, which have already inspected twice, have expressed dissatisfaction with the teaching staff recruitment and facilities. During the second inspection, they were reminded that the conditions of the first inspection were fresh. Health Minister Harish Rao paid special attention to this issue. Currently there are 2815 MBBS seats in the state. Another 900 seats will become available if new colleges start. They are moving ahead with the determination to make all the seats available and complete all the necessary arrangements. In this context, before the NMC comes to inspect new medical colleges for the third time, key aspects including the appointment of teaching staff and construction of facilities have to be completed. There are 24 private medical colleges in the state with 3,800 MBBS seats.

Professors, Associate Professors and other staff will be appointed as per NMC guidelines for nine medical colleges. As part of this, 87 associate professors were promoted to professors. He also focused on the promotion of 210 people as associate professors. The recruitment process of 1,442 associate professors has also been brought to a head. However, as there is a delay in the construction of infrastructure, the local public representatives are taking the initiative on the suggestion of the minister. NEET MBBS notification is already out. Officials are of the opinion that there is still four to five months for the admissions process to be completed, and that there is a chance to complete the necessary process for the opening of the new medical college.
