Clear your WhatsApp data:

If you are part of multiple groups on WhatsApp from school to college, from parents to relatives, then chances are you will have a lot of unread videos/photos that are taking up space of your phone. Clearing your WhatsApp space is the most important thing for many iPhone users. For this, go to Settings and tap on WhatsApp, so that you can see how much data it has taken. Don’t be surprised if it’s in double digits, especially if you’re part of several active groups.

Then go to WhatsApp>Settings>Storage & data and manage storage. WhatsApp will show all the space that is filled. Right above you will see ‘Review and remove’. This includes files larger than 5MB. Just remove most of them and they will probably be videos.

You can then view each chat to see how much space it is taking up on your phone. Tapping on each chat will show all the items you probably need to delete. Remember that it is not only videos or pictures that take up space, even many PDF files do the same. Now that you’ve deleted some of these videos, photos and files, you should see some extra space on your device.

If you want to back up all these photos before deleting them, you can do that too. Just make sure you have enabled ‘Add Video’ option in Chat Backup.

Turn on iCloud Backup:

If you don’t already have it, it’s best to buy some extra iCloud online storage space and start backing up photos and videos to the cloud. The ‘Apple One’ service comes with access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ storage. The base individual plan costs Rs 195 per month and will offer 50GB of cloud storage. The family plan costs Rs 365 per month and lets you share storage with up to 5 other people and offers 200GB of cloud storage.

Remember that you can back up all your photos, videos and iPhone data to iCloud. Just go to the Settings app and tap on the one you see at the top.

Just tap on iCloud, and you’ll be able to see how much iCloud storage you currently have. Turn on Photos and iCloud Backup for your device. This will ensure that all your old photos are backed up to the cloud and there is some free space.

Cleaning Your Mail App:

If you are signed in to your Mail app on iPhone, it is likely that many unread emails have been downloaded and taking up space on your device. You can open the Mail app, tap Edit for Inbox, and delete the emails you don’t need.

Offload the apps you don’t use:

This is a useful way to clean up storage without deleting app data. Just tap on any app in iPhone storage settings and you will see the option to offload the app. Apple will free up storage used by the app, but documents and data will be saved. When you reinstall, the app will restore your data as well. Or you can simply delete all those extra apps you’ve downloaded and never used.

Clear data from Safari browser:

Web browser apps such as Safari and Chrome also save a lot of temporary data on your iPhone. Go to Safari in Settings in the iPhone Storage section. Tap Website data and delete all website data. This will clear all the temporary cache and again help to save some space.

Delete Message:

If you haven’t cleared too many old messages, they are taking up too much space on your iPhone. It may take some time and effort to clean and remove these, but it’s best to do so and get some space back.
