GPS tracker: Jammu and Kashmir Police has recently taken a hi-tech step, after which the accused released on bail will not be able to disappear by dodging the police. Actually, Jammu and Kashmir Police has started the GPS Tracker Anklet (Anklet) campaign, which will be fitted on the feet of terrorists and prisoners released on bail. Let us tell you that Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken this step after the decision of the NIA court. Earlier, accused were tracked in a similar manner in Europe and America.
GPS tracker anklet has been started as a trial
Jammu and Kashmir Police has currently started the GPS tracker anklet as a trial, in which the police will install GPS tracker anklets on the bodies of people associated with terrorism, UAPA accused and people involved in suspicious activities. Earlier, the Special Court of NIA had given instructions to install GPC tracker on the terrorism accused so that he cannot abscond.
This prisoner was first fitted with a GPS tracker anklet
Jammu and Kashmir Police first brought the GPS tracker anklet to a prisoner named Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a case registered under sections of UAPA. Ghulam Mohammed Bhat is accused of being involved in terror funding at the behest of Hizbul Mujahideen. Bhat was arrested while disposing of Rs 2.5 lakh belonging to terrorists. Ghulam Mohammad was also found to have links with many terrorist organizations. According to officials, Delhi’s Patiala House Court and NIA Court have also convicted him in some cases.
How does this GPS work?
According to the report, a tracker is being fitted on the ankle of people being released from jail. This tracker will be connected to the police control room. If needed, the police will be able to find the accused and reach him at any time. Apart from this, people’s activities can also be monitored. Information can also be collected about people associated with terrorism, where they go and whom they meet. The police hope that this will instill fear among these people and their activities will also be controlled.
If any tampering is done with the GPS tracker or an attempt is made to remove it, its signal will be received by the control room. Apart from this, even if the accused tries to go somewhere outside the designated place, the parole officer will also get information about it.
