Android and iOS devices have their own smart AI-based assistants Google Assistant and Siri. Now you can extend the capabilities of Siri by integrating ChatGPT. Here’s how to supercharge Apple’s Siri using OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
First and foremost, you will need an iPhone or iPad to incorporate ChatGPT into Siri. After that you need to create an account on OpenAI to access ChatGPT. While ChatGPT can be accessed for free. There is also a Plus version available for $20 per month with other benefits.
Once you have created an account on OpenAI and have access to ChatGPT, go to https://platform.openai.com/. Click on the “Personal” option in the top right corner and select “View API Key”. Select “Create New Key” from the sub-menu and copy the key. The thing to note is that all the steps can be done on a web browser. Now go to your iPhone or iPad and search Yu-Yang’s GitHub on the web browser.
Click on the pinned post that says “ChatGPT-Siri” and select “Shortcut Download”. Select and download the “Smart Chat 1.2 English” version, then select the “Set up shortcut” option. Paste the secret ChatGPT API code in the next menu. The best way to do this is to copy the code into a notes app like Google Keep and paste it from there.
You should now see a shortcut named “ChatGPT 1.2” on the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. You can now type your query inside the chatbox to get conversational style answers. You can also rename the shortcut for easy access. As such one could rename it to “AI”. Now he can access ChatGPT through Siri using the command “Hey Siri, AI” and I can ask questions.
