Uttarakhand Encroachment News: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Friday that illegal encroachment in the name of ‘land jihad’ will not be allowed to spoil the atmosphere of the state. Participating in the concluding session of the two-day meeting of the Central Margdarshak Mandal of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) here, Dhami said, ‘‘Uttarakhand shares its borders with two countries (China and Nepal). Structures were built by a particular community in the border areas of the state by illegal encroachment, which are being removed by running a campaign.’’ He said that the state government has appealed to the encroachers to remove their structures on their own, else they would be demolished by the administration.

The Chief Minister said, ‘‘Not a single illegal religious structure will be allowed to remain inside the state. All illegal structures will be completely demolished.’’ He said that his government has made a tough law against religious conversion. Dhami said that Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. He said, ‘The committee to draft the Uniform Civil Code has completed 90 percent of its work and will submit its report to the state government by June 30.’’ Dhami said that after examining the report, Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state. He said that this law will apply equally to citizens of all religious communities. He said that the Uniform Civil Code implemented in Uttarakhand will be exemplary for the whole country.

Before this, Dhami took the blessings of the sages present there and said that he is serving the people of the state only with their blessings. He assured the saints that he would fulfill their expectations. In the meeting, President of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad and Secretary of Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri called for ‘Bhoomi Jihad’ Welcoming the action being taken by the government, praised the Chief Minister for this. However, he appealed to the Chief Minister that action should not be taken on temples that are more than 50 years old and of mythological importance and such places should be given on lease to the government. In this regard, referring to the day-to-day tampering with the places of saints in the name of encroachment in the Bairagi Camp located in Haridwar Kumbh area, Shrimahant said that the place reserved for Bairagi saints should be given on lease by the government to Bairagi Akharas.
