Presidential Election Today
President Draupadi Murmu has been nominated by the NDA and Yashwant Sinha by the opposition for the post. Members of Parliament from both houses of Parliament and MLAs from all states and Union Territories will vote for the post of President. This voting process is done through preferential voting. Voting will be held in Parliament House and State Legislatures from 10 am to 5 pm. Shinde Group and BJP MLAs are staying at Trident Hotel since last night. The Shinde Group-BJP meetings are going on for the last two days regarding voting. A meeting of NCP MLAs has been called at Vidhan Bhavan at 9 am. Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil will guide this meeting.

Monsoon session of Parliament from today
Monsoon session of Parliament will start from today and it will continue till August 12. 24 new bills are going to be introduced by the government in the session. The work of both the houses will start at 11 am. Prime Minister Modi will enter Parliament House at 10 am and interact with the media. The opposition is likely to be aggressive on the issues of Agneepath, list of unparliamentary words, ban on protests in Parliament premises. 

Today Jagdeep Dhankad will file nomination for the post of Vice President
NDA Vice Presidential Candidate Jagdeep Dhankad will file the nomination form today at 10.30 am. Margaret Alva has been nominated by the opposition for the post of Vice President. Margaret Alva will file nomination papers on July 19. 

Food and household items will become expensive from today
Chane, milk, lassi, stationery items, groceries etc. Things are going to get expensive from today. It was decided to cancel the exemption given to these items from GST. Traders have protested this decision in various ways.

40 people poisoned in Pandharpur
40 people got food poisoning at Sri Vitthal Ashram in Pandharpur. is All of them are currently undergoing treatment at the Upazila Hospital and the hospital administration has informed that the condition of all of them is stable.

The return journey of palanquin of Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj has started. Today, Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palanquin will be staying at Valhe in Purandar taluka. Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s feet will be bathed in neera. Neera bath is also performed on the way to Pandharpur and on the return journey from Pandharpur towards Alandi.
