Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station: Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station will be specially rejuvenated for royal and tourist trains. Like the royal trains like Maharajas’ Express and Palace on Wheels departing from here, Safdarjung station is also set to be given a royal look. According to the Railways, the work of redevelopment and modernization of this station is being done at a cost of 385 crores. Maharaja Express and Palace on Wheels are one of the most expensive and royal trains of the country, which depart from this station. The station will be decorated in such a way that passengers arriving here from India and abroad can always remember it.

Safdarjung station located on Delhi’s Safdarjung station ring rail route, many passenger trains pass daily, but the identity of this station is for the operation of tourist trains. Special tourist trains run frequently from here by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This is the reason why a large number of foreign tourists also reach here. Despite this, there are not enough facilities at Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station. Keeping this in mind it has been decided to develop this station.

384.70 crore approved for redevelopment of Safdarjung station 

The work of redevelopment of Safdarjung station is taking shape at an approved cost of Rs 384.70 crore. The station after reconstruction will have a built-up area of ​​41,350 square meters and is expected to be converted into a state-of-the-art station with modern amenities. Sharing the current situation a few days ago, the Ministry of Railways had said that the foundation work is in progress. RCC footing, retaining wall, column and slab etc. are being poured.

Platform infrastructure to be modernised

As per reports, the redeveloped station will have a state-of-the-art building, a connecting concourse, modernized platform infrastructure and an office complex with a retail facility. The number of platforms at the station will also be increased. Arrivals and departures will be segregated through lifts and escalators to facilitate pedestrian movement. Separate passenger drop-off and pedestrian plazas and passenger pick-up and pedestrian plazas have been proposed for private cars, taxis and autorickshaws, with dedicated slots for buses.

The ground floor of the railway station will include an arrival hall, ticketing, shopping and waiting lounge areas along with passenger amenities. At the same time, on the first floor of this station, there will be executive lounge, waiting area, food court and other facilities including a medical room. Energy efficient lamps powered by solar energy will also be used for lighting here.
