MP CM Ramesh: It is well known that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the Presidential election. The NDA has fielded Murmu as its candidate while Yashwant Sinha has been fielded as the joint candidate of the opposition. The BJP Parliamentary Board convened a meeting at the party headquarters to brainstorm on the name of the presidential candidate and announced her name. However, the nomination paper of NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu was signed by BJP Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh from Andhra Pradesh. Ramesh is the only one from AP to sign.

Incumbent President Ramnath Kovind’s term ends on July 24. Following the announcement of Sinha as the opposition candidate, voting for the next presidential election will now take place on July 18. The process of replacement of nomination papers for the Presidential election is underway. June 29 is the last date for filing nominations.
