Delhi: Liquor smugglers on Holi, Delhi Police arrested 25 people, recovered more than 12 thousand bottles

Delhi Crime News: Delhi Police has arrested 25 liquor smugglers and a gambler in the South district during its special operation, while 472 people have been caught. Over 12,894 liquor bottles, 394 beer bottles and gambling money were seized during the two-day special drive from March 6 to 8, an official said.

Police launched campaign on Holi
South Delhi DCP Chandan Chaudhary said that in view of Holi, several teams of South district were deployed in sensitive areas to ensure peaceful Holi. Therefore, special drives against organized crime and public drinking were carried out during March 6 to 8 at various places in South District to maintain law and order in the area.

‘Restrictive action taken against 472’ 
The DCP said that therefore, during March 6 to 8, special operations were conducted to maintain law and order in the area. Its purpose was to control crime and provide a better environment to the city dwellers. During the special drive, 25 liquor smugglers, one gambler were arrested in different police stations and 472 people were held under preventive action, the official said. Several teams also patrolled the areas and preventive action was initiated against those who were trying to disturb peace, the official said.

Ghaziabad police caught illegal liquor worth lakhs
Two days ago in Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi, Loni police caught liquor worth lakhs of rupees being brought from Haryana. This liquor of Haryana mark was being brought for consumption in Uttar Pradesh on Holi, but the police thwarted the plans of the smugglers. This country liquor of Haryana was being brought in a white small elephant pickup, the police had also arrested one accused while confiscating the liquor. The police had told that 105 cases of illegal liquor were recovered from the car of the accused, which was worth lakhs. During interrogation, the accused told that liquor was to be sold at cheap prices on Holi.
