Chaitra Navratri 2023: Lakhi Mela will be held on Chaitra Navratri in the enclosure of Mata Kailadevi lake located in Bayana subdivision of Bharatpur district. This time the fair site will be monitored with CCTV cameras. The Devasthan Department will make adequate arrangements for medical facilities, fire fighting vehicles and security. According to the information, in the year 1923, Maharani Girraj Kaur had renovated the Bara temple of ancient Kailadevi lake. Maharaja Brijendra Singh of Bharatpur used to worship Ashtami in this temple. Bada Mata of Kailadevi lake is worshiped as the total deity of the royal family. Ravi Kund Sarovar was built by Maharaja Brijendra Singh in the temple premises. During the princely period, huge tents were put up in the center of the temple premises.
Maharaja Brijendra Singh of Bharatpur reached early and used to bathe in the tent. After taking bath, worshiped the mother. Special arrangements were made for the worship of the Maharaja in the temple. A small room was also built during the princely period.
Kailadevi is worshiped as the family goddess of the royal family
The bhajan singers of the rural area used to perform in the room. The Maharaja used to stay in the court of Goddess Mata throughout the day and returned to the palace after the evening aarti. Mahant Braj Kishore of Bada Mata Temple of Kailadevi Lake has told that the temple was built by the royal family during the princely period and the property of Kalamata temple belonged to the royal family. Bharatpur Maharaja has handed over the temple to the Devasthan Department. The enclosure of the Kaila Devi lake is maintained by the temple department.
