A review meeting on power supply was held at the Power Distribution Head Office at Anna Salai, Chennai. After the review meeting, Power Minister Senthil Balaji told reporters, ‘Precautionary measures have been taken to meet the maximum power demand of Tamil Nadu.

In 2019, 16,000 MW of electricity has been used. Similarly, 16,000 MW will be used in 2020 and 2021. But over 16,000 MW of electricity has been supplied in the last 17 days. We have informed the inspection meeting that the repaired areas should be repaired immediately.

57 thousand tons of coal is coming in a week. We call on the United States to increase this. Power cuts have been announced in states like Gujarat and Karnataka. BJP state president Annamalai is talking without knowing anything about electricity.

Electricity is generated and sold to outstations for around Rs. 12 per unit. Heavy rains in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts have led to power outages.

It produces 37 percent more electricity than in the past. It has been asked to purchase 3,000 MW in advance before April and May. Solar power was only 222 MW. It has now increased to 137 MW in a year.

Over the next 5 years 6200 MW will be self-generated by the thermal power plant. If we want to increase power generation, we have to strengthen the infrastructure, ‘said Minister Senthil Balaji.
