- Zverev won the ATP Finals title for the second time
- Novak Djokovic was defeated in the semi-finals
- Defeated second-ranked Daniil Medvedev in the final
Aleksandr Zverev presented a fine display of his attacking game as he defeated world number two Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to win the ATP Finals tennis tournament title for the second time on Sunday.
After beating top-ranked Novak Djokovic in three sets in the semi-finals, Zverev made an even better performance to beat Medvedev 6-4, 6-4.
Zverev adopted a dominating strategy from the start and did not give US Open champion Medvedev any chance. Zverev later said, “It was part of my strategy. He is the best player at baseline in the world and against him you need to control the points and that’s what I did today and that’s why I was successful.
Earlier this month, Djokovic used the same strategy to win against Medvedev in the final of the Paris Masters. Earlier, Pierre Hughes Herbert and Nicolas Mahout defeated Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury 6-4, 7-6 (0) to win the doubles title.
