WPL Auction 2023: It is known that BCCI has decided to organize Women’s IPL from this year. Franchises have already been selected for this. Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow and Bangalore will compete in this tournament. Now it seems that the auction date for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been fixed. It is reported that this auction will be held on February 13 in Mumbai.

‘WPL auction will be held on February 13 in Mumbai. Franchisees are satisfied with the date and location. Also it will be easy for BCCI to hold auction in Mumbai. An official announcement will be made soon.’ A top BCCI official clarified that. However, the franchisees have not yet been officially informed about the auction and the date.
In-depth preparations are required
‘We have decided on a date for the auction. The auction will be held on February 13th or 14th. It’s a new league. So a lot of preparation is required. “We are getting to know each and every player in depth,” said an official from Ahmedabad franchise owner Adani Sports Line. The Women’s Premier League matches will be held at two venues in Mumbai. Brabourne ground and DY Patil stadiums will host this tournament. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune has been chosen as a backup.

WPL- 2023 Format
- It is reported that the women’s premier league will be held in round robin league format.
- The 5 participating teams will face each other 5 times in league matches. There will be a total of 20 league matches.
- The top team in the points table will directly qualify for the final.
- Eliminator match will be held between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams. The winning team will be the second finalist.
- WPL tournament will be held in March. But BCCI has not yet made any official statement on the conduct of the tournament.
