IBAA Women’s World Boxing Championships currently in Istanbul (IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship) is being organized. Neetu dominated the rest of the rounds too
After this, in the second and third round also, Neetu of Haryana continued to perform brilliantly and became the winner. This is India’s second win in two days. Neetu will face Spain’s López del Arbol Marta in the last-16 round match on Saturday. Lopez defeated Nguyen Thi Thu Ni of Vietnam 5-0 in the first round.
Four Indian players will enter the ring on Wednesday. Nikhat Zareen, a bronze medalist at the 2019 Asian Championships, will open her campaign against Herrera Alvarez of Mexico in the opening round of 52kg. Manisha (57kg), Parveen (63kg) and Sweety (75kg) will also compete on the third day of the prestigious event. Manisha got a bye in the first round and will take on Nepal’s Kala Thapa in the second round while Parveen and Sweety will take on Ukraine’s Maria Bova and England’s Kerry Davis respectively.
Lovlina got a thrilling win
Earlier, on the first day of competition, Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain made a triumphant return to the international circuit with a thrilling 3-2 win over two-time World Championships medalist Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei. This was Lovlina’s first international match after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
