Wimbledon Dress Code: Wimbledon has finally changed its dress code – dark colors too!

Wimbledon is remembered for the players competing for the cup wearing white on the green court. But from this time there will be a change in that scene. The strict white dress code was dropped due to female players’ period problems. This allows female players to wear dark colored undershorts. The strict all-white dress code has been criticized by tennis players Billie Jean King, Daria Saville, and former Olympic champion Monica Puig. " Now you feel like you can breathe. No need to check every minute when you’re sitting down and switching sides." He said.

There has always been pressure on the tournament organizers to change the dress code and ease concerns about menstruating players getting blood on their white clothes. Campaigners at the Wimbledon Champion’s “About bloody time”, “Address the dress code” protested with placards reading.

All England club chief executive Sally Bolton said in a statement that the committee of management decided to change the strict white dress code after consultation with players and representatives of several stakeholder groups.

"From next year, women and girls competing in the championship will be able to wear undershorts of their choice." said Bolton. Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has announced that white shorts will no longer feature as part of the team’s kit from the 2023-24 season.
