Left-handed batsman Smriti Mandhana, aggressive batsman Shefali Verma, Sabhineni Meghna and Yastika Bhatia are the top-order batsmen in India’s 15-man squad.
In the absence of Smriti, Shefali and Yastika opened the innings against New Zealand in February.
Harmanpreet said on the eve of the first match of the series, “We have many top-order batsmen, three or four of them can play as openers. But when it comes to this team, everyone will get a chance to show their skills.
“We are all representing our country and whenever we get an opportunity, we have to make the best use of it. We have got a lot of batsmen who can play at any position. We will try to give everyone a chance to bat where they are comfortable.
Harmanpreet also backed talented all-rounder Jemima Rodriguez, who was not included in the Indian squad for the last ODI World Cup but has returned for the series against Sri Lanka.
He said, “Jemica is an experienced player. She will definitely play an important role in the T20 series.
The captain admitted that it would not be possible to give equal opportunities to all the players all the time but it is his responsibility to talk to everyone and work out the ideal team combination for the big tournament.
The situation regarding the live telecast of this series is not clear. However, as of now, the first match will be telecast live on the official YouTube channel of Sri Lanka Cricket.
