Virender Sehwag told the reason for the injury of Indian players, said- ‘Dhoni-Sachin and Yuvraj were never out due to back injury’

Virender Sehwag On Back Injuries: Indian cricket team pacer Jasprit Bumrah is away from cricket for almost 6 months. He is yet to recover from his back injury. Right now Bumrah may take a long time to get fit. His playing in the world is also questionable. At the same time, Indian team’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer has also been ruled out of the ODI series against Australia due to a back injury. Former cricketer Virender Sehwag has reacted to Indian players suffering from injuries. According to Sehwag, the players of Team India are getting injured due to the daily work out routine. In such a situation, when many players of Rohit Sharma’s team are struggling with the problem of hamstring and back injury, then he has given a big statement.

No place for weightlifting

Talking on TRS Clips, Virender Sehwag said, ‘There is no place for weightlifting in cricket.  Instead of this you should do such exercises which will improve your game. Lifting weights will give you strength but also increase stiffness and pain. In our days, Akash Chopra, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, MS Dhoni or Yuvraj Singh were never ruled out due to back injury or hamstring.’ However, during this he also said that everyone cannot be Virat Kohli.

Sehwag further said, ‘Basu Shankar, former performance coach of the Indian cricket team, used to have a similar program for all the players. Recalling his past conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin, he revealed, the star all-rounder got addicted to clean and jerk only because it used to be a trend. In those days Ashwin was part of the IPL team Punjab Kings. According to Sehwag, ‘Clean and jerk training is given to athletes from childhood. Imagine a cricketer starts this when he is above 30 years of age. Ashwin and Akshar had knee problems due to this workout.
