Today in history: Tamil Nadu bowler who took a hat trick wicket for ‘CSK’: Famous coach today!

Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab clashed in the 31st league match of the first season of the IPL.

Openers Sivaramakrishnan 8 (4) and Stephen Fleming 1 (4) did not score much for CSK. Following this, Suresh Raina added 26 (17) and Subramaniam Bardinath and Mahendra Singh Dhoni continued to play well.

In the end, Badrinath hit 64 off 47 balls, including six fours and three sixes. However, captain Dhoni was on the field till the end, adding 60 off 43 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes. CSK scored 181/4 in 20 overs.

Punjab innings:

Punjab opener Shaun Marsh continued to chase down the target, scoring 58 off 38 balls. Irfan Pathan added 40 off 18 balls in the last over to take the team to victory as Sarwan piled up 20 (22) for his side.

Balaji Hatrick:

Lakshmipathy Balaji then bowled the last over in 19.3, 19.4,19.5 to take the wickets of Irfan Pathan, Piyush Chawla and Vikram Singh. This is the first hat trick in the IPL. In the end, Punjab lost by 18 runs, adding only 163/9 in 16.3 overs.
