Thrilling win over Bangladesh, Pakistan cleans it up in T20 series

Haider Ali’s 38-ball 45 in tough conditions helped Pakistan thrash Bangladesh by five wickets in a thrilling third T20I here on Monday to clear the three-match series.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 124 for seven. Pakistan won the match on the last ball with a four by Mohammad Nawaz (four not out). In this low-scoring match, Pakistan needed eight runs to win in the last over.

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah himself decided to bowl, running Sarfraz Ahmed (six) and Haider Ali off the second and third balls of the over. After this Iftikhar Ahmed (six runs) hit a six off the fourth ball. He also tried to hit a big shot on the fifth ball, but was caught out.

Pakistan needed two runs off the last ball but Nawaz gave the team victory by hitting a four. Mahmudullah took three wickets for 10 runs in an over. Chasing the target, Haider Ali and Mohammad Rizwan (40) put up a 51-run partnership for the second wicket to put the team in a good position, but Bangladesh managed to bounce back. Haider hit three fours and two sixes.

Earlier, Mahmudullah won the toss and elected to bat but Shahnawaz Dahani, leg-spinner Usman Qadir and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim took two wickets each to restrict Bangladesh to a low score. Mohammad Naim scored 47 runs in 50 balls for Bangladesh. Pakistan won the first match by four wickets while the second match by eight wickets.
