South African pacer Kagiso Rabada took four wickets as Punjab restricted Gujarat to 143 for eight. After this, Punjab chased down the target with 24 balls remaining with the help of opener Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 62.
Sandeep bowled well and conceded only 17 runs in his four overs.
He told reporters after the match, “Today the wicket also helped us. Initially the new ball was getting ‘movement’ in it.
“We wanted to follow the strategy that we discussed with (head coach) Anil (Kumble) sir and we were lucky that we were successful in that,” Sandeep said.
With this win, Punjab’s team has reached the fifth place and according to Sandeep his team is focusing on one match at a time.
“All matches are very important for us now but it is more important to focus on one match at a time. The way we went into this match with a positive mindset, we will go into the next match as well.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans batsman David Miller said that his team lost wickets at regular intervals and the effect of dew.
Miller said, “When you lose wickets at regular intervals, it becomes difficult. We were under pressure in the first 10 overs. We didn’t score enough runs. ,
“Besides this, the dew was falling a lot. Bowling with the wet ball was not easy. So defending this score was very challenging.
