T20 WC: Australia becomes new champion, defeats New Zealand to make history

Australia have won the T20 World Cup for the first time, beating New Zealand in the final. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. After which the New Zealand team scored 172 runs for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of 20 overs before batting. Captain Kane Williams played a brilliant innings of 85 runs. However, Australia scored 173 for 2 at the end of 20 overs to win by 8 wickets to become the T20 World Champions. Mitchell Marsh (77) and David Warner (53) were the standout batsmen for Australia.

This time too, the New Zealand team was sad. The New Zealand team has lost the championship for the third time in the last six years in an ICC event. Earlier in the 2015 ODI World Cup against Australia, in the 2019 ODI World Cup, New Zealand lost to England in the final. And now even in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Australia has snatched the victory from New Zealand.

Australia’s innings:

The Australian team did not have a good start as they chased down the Kiwis’ massive 173 runs. Captain Aaron Finch returned to the pavilion with five runs. Trent Bolt gave New Zealand their first success. Warner and Mitchell Marsh then took over the Australian innings. Australia were 82 for 1 at the end of 10 overs. Opener David Warner hit four fours and three sixes off 38 balls in an explosive innings of 53 runs. However, Australia’s score did not stop there. Mitchell Marsh hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in 50 balls and played a brilliant innings of 77 runs. Glenn Maxwell hit 18 off 18 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. And Australia won the T20 World Cup by 173 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 18.5 overs. Trent Bolt from New Zealand was 2 wickets faster.

New Zealand’s innings:

Luck did not accompany the New Zealand team in the T20 final. New Zealand lost the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Martin Guptill and Darrell Mitchell did not give a good start. The New Zealand batsmen were in trouble against Australia’s aggressive bowling. And opener Darrell Mitchell returned to the pavilion with 11 runs. Hazlewood gave Australia its first success. At the end of 10 overs, New Zealand managed only 57 runs. After which Kiwi captain Kane Williams played a brilliant captain’s innings. He played a superb innings of 85 off 48 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes. However, Martin Guptill was able to score 28 off 35 balls while Glenn Phillips was dismissed for 18.

Neither team has won the T20 World Cup yet. In Teva, both teams are looking to win the World Cup. In addition, the New Zealand team will avenge the loss of the 2015 World Cup against Australia. New Zealand has reached the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time. When Australia reached the 2010 T20 final, they lost by 7 wickets to England.
