Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha tweeted that, "It is a matter of great pride that former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has accepted our proposal to become the brand ambassador of Tripura Tourism. Had a phone conversation with him today." Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha further wrote, "I am sure that Sourav Ganguly will definitely boost the tourism sector of the state."

According to sources in Tripura’s tourism department, Sourav Ganguly also met Tourism Minister Sushant Chaudhary and other officials at his residence in Behala, Kolkata on Tuesday. Tourism Minister along with Tourism Secretary and Director Uttam Kumar Chakma and Tapan Kumar Chakma were present in this. The Tourism Minister said, ‘We need a lot of publicity and good branding to take our Tripura tourism to the world, so we needed a popular brand ambassador and ex-Indian cricket team known worldwide. For this, no one can be more popular than Sourav Ganguly.’
