IND vs NZ 1st Test Kanpur: Mumbaikar Shreyas Iyer recently made his Test debut. Shreyas, who played international Tests for four years after making his debut in international cricket in 2017, did his best in the opening match. He managed to score a century . This made Iyer the 16th Indian to score a century in his debut. But after scoring 65 in the second innings, he became the first Indian to score a century in the first innings and a half-century in the second innings.
He then scored 65 off 125 balls in the second innings. He became the third Indian batsman to score more than 50 runs in both innings of his debut Test match. The first such performance by Dillawar Hussain was for the Indian cricket team against England in Kolkata in 1933-34. Dilawar had scored 59 in the first innings and 57 in the second. Sunil Gavaskar is the only Indian batsman to score more than 50 runs in both the innings. He scored 65 in the first innings and 67 not out in the second innings against the West Indies at Port of Spain in 1970-71. But even better than these two, Iyer is ahead of both of them in scoring a century in the first innings and a half-century in the second innings.
While the players were returning to the tent, Shreyas Iyer, the star player of the Test, handled the innings with veteran R Ashwin. He was dismissed after Ashwin scored a crucial 32 runs. Later, Iyer completed his half century. But he also returned to the tent with 65 runs. Riddhiman Saha (61 not out) and Akshar Patel (28 not out) were the key players in the final over. After which India declared the innings after 234 runs and challenged the Kiwis for 284 runs to win. After bowling, Ashwin trapped opener Will Young in the third over to end New Zealand’s 4 for one. Now, on the fifth day, the Kiwis need 280 runs with 9 wickets to win. & Nbsp;
