Senior Women’s T20: Railways clash with Maharashtra in the final

Surat, May 2 (PTI) Defending champions Railways beat Odisha by 35 runs in the second semi-final here on Monday to reach the final of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy where they will face Maharashtra.

Batting first, Railways scored 159 for two with half-centuries from S Meghna (84) and Nuzhat Parveen (55 not out).

Meghna hit nine fours and a six in her 63-ball knock while Parveen hit four fours in her unbeaten 51-ball knock.

In reply, Odisha’s team could score only 124 runs for seven wickets. Opener Madhuri Mehta was the most successful batsman from his side, who scored 35 runs in 25 balls.

For Railways, Swagatika Rath took 23 wickets while Tanuja P Kanwar took two wickets for 25 runs. Poonam Yadav and Sneh Rana took one wicket each.

Earlier, Yastika Bhatia’s knock of 71 off 45 balls also did not work for Baroda and Maharashtra defeated them by six wickets to enter the final.

The Maharashtra team, captained by Smriti Mandhana, restricted Baroda to 121 runs for seven wickets. Utkarsha Pawar took three wickets for 21 runs in four overs.

India and Baroda batsman Yastika hit ten fours and a six in her innings. Maharashtra won with five balls to spare.

Maharashtra opener Shivali Shinde scored 44 runs in 37 balls. Tejal Hansabis scored 33 runs in 32 balls. Captain Smriti Mandhana scored 13 runs.
