Bloemfontein. India A started off cautiously after South Africa A’s mammoth first innings total on the second day of the first unofficial Test (four-day) cricket match at 125 for one at stumps. South Africa A declared the first innings at 509 for seven. Till the stumps, India A team captain Priyank Panchal was present at the crease with 45 and Abhimanyu Easwaran scoring 27 runs.

Opener Prithvi Shaw (48 off 45 balls with nine fours) was heading for a big innings, but he was dismissed in the 14th over. India batted 33 overs on Wednesday and are trailing by 384 runs in the four-day match. Earlier, South Africa A batsmen dominated the India A bowlers as the home team added 166 runs in 45.3 overs and declared the first innings at 509 for seven in 135.3 overs.

The team started with 343 for three, their captain Peter Malan adding only six runs to the night’s 157 runs and Navdeep Saini fell victim. Jason Smith also could add only one run to his score of 51 runs and Arjan was the victim of Nagwaswala. But wicket-keeper batsmen Synthemba Keshile (82 not out) and Georges Linde (51 not out) made quick runs against the Indian bowlers and put on 102 runs for the sixth wicket in 27.2 overs.
