Rohit Sharma: Let the match end, I teach you a lesson… When Rohit Sharma’s anger broke out on Shardul Thakur

New Delhi: Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur has consistently contributed with the ball as well as the bat for India. Sharduk had contributed significantly to India’s victory in the Gabba Test against Australia (AUS vs IND) early last year. He scored a brilliant fifty for India in the first innings of the match, due to which Australia did not succeed in taking a big lead.

Disappointed in the second innings
The Indian team was close to victory in the second innings. When Shardul came out to bat after the dismissal of Washington Sundar, the team needed 10 runs to win. Pant took a run after hitting a boundary. After this the team needed 5 runs. Shardul runs for two off his second ball. After this he turned the bat to play a big shot but the ball hit the upper edge and went into the air. Nathan Lyon took a catch at short mid-wicket and sent him to the pavilion.

While going to the crease to Shardul, Rohit Sharma had said that there is a chance for you to become a hero and Shardul went away shaking his head. In the recently released Bandon Mein Tha Dum documentary, Ravichandran Ashwin said about this, ‘As soon as he was about to bat, Rohit said that Shardul, you have to come after finishing the match. But Shardul must have imagined, as Ravi Bhai said, Dhoni Hits and Wins the World Cup. This was what was going on in Shardul’s mind. Shardul hits the shot and he is out.

Rohit said to teach a lesson
Regarding this, the then Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane said, Rohit was sitting next to me. He said let the match end and let us win. Then I teach him a lesson. I said forget it, we will talk about it after the match is over.

In the end, India won the match by 3 wickets with Rishabh Pant’s four. Australia lost to a team after 32 years at the Gabba. With this win, India won the 4-match series by 2-1.
