And they were also happy to persuade Dravid for the job.

Ponting claims to have been offered head coach

Ricky Ponting also revealed that he had been offered the position of head coach of Team India, but had turned down the offer. “During the IPL, I had some conversations with the head coach of Team India,” said Ricky Ponting. The people I talked to were looking for ways to convince me. The first thing I told them was, I can’t give them enough time. And that meant I couldn’t be a coach in the IPL.
