Ponting was surprised when Dravid agreed to become the coach
Speaking on the grade cricketer podcast, Ricky Ponting said, “I am amazed that Dravid is doing so well. Many were saying that Dravid was very happy with the role of Under-19. I don’t know about his family, but he has small children in his family. And I’m annoyed that he decided to be a coach. But the people I have talked to say that they have chosen the right person. And they were also happy to persuade Dravid for the job.
Ponting claims to have been offered head coach
Ricky Ponting also revealed that he had been offered the position of head coach of Team India, but had turned down the offer. “During the IPL, I had some conversations with the head coach of Team India,” said Ricky Ponting. The people I talked to were looking for ways to convince me. The first thing I told them was, I can’t give them enough time. And that meant I couldn’t be a coach in the IPL.
