Rahul Teotia was bought by Gujarat in the IPL auction for 9 crores. He played the role of finisher for the team. In 12 innings, Tewatia scored 217 runs with the bat at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 147.62. This included 22 fours and 9 sixes. Against Punjab, he had given his team victory by hitting two sixes in the last two balls. Ambati Rayudu also tweeted after he was not selected in the 2019 World Cup and then he never got a place in the team.
