The Indian team suffered an unexpected defeat on Thursday night on home soil. Team India batted first in the first T20I against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi but scored 211. They lost due to poor bowling and fielding. First opener Ishant Kishan (76:48 off 11×4, 3×6) hit a lightning half-century as India won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 211 for five. In the ensuing chase, David Miller (64 not out: 4×4, 5×6 off 31 balls) and Dussain (75 not out: 7×4, 5×6 off 46 balls) played an extraordinary game to give South Africa a 212/3 victory with five balls to spare. With that .. Safaris will take a 1-0 lead in the five T20 series .. The second T20 match will be played in Cuttack on Sunday night.

South Africa did not get off to a good start in the 212-run chase. Openers Decock (22) and Themba Bauma (10) were bowled out for a low score. But .. Pretorius (1×4, 4×6 off 29:13 balls) who came in at No. 3 pushed the Indian bowlers with huge sixes at once .. David Miller and Dussain who came later competed and hit sixes and fours. Shreyas Iyer smashed an easy catch by Dussain in the middle. With that .. Dussain, who got more excited after his life, hit huge sixes and did not give India a chance to bounce back till the end. Among Indian bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Herschelle Patel and Akshar Patel took wickets.

India, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, scored unexpectedly. Ishant Kishan continued to be in top gear at one end. He got good support from Ruturaj Gaikwad (23), Shreyas Iyer (36), Rishabh Pant (29) and Hardik Pandya (31 not out). With that .. India which initially seemed to score 170-180 runs .. was finally able to score 211 runs.
