Neeraj Chopra: & nbsp; Subhedar Neeraj Chopra, who won a gold medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics, will be honored with the ‘Distinguished Service Medal’. He will be honored with the medal by President Ramnath Kovind on Republic Day. & Nbsp;

President Ramnath Kovind will honor 384 soldiers with gallantry and other awards. The awards include 12 Valor Cycles, 29 Most Distinguished Service Medals, 4 Outstanding War Service Medals, 53 High Distinguished Service Medals and 13 War Service Medals.

Neeraj Chopra is currently the Deputy Subedar in the Indian Army. He is originally from Panipat in Haryana. At the 2016 South Asian Games, Neeraj won the gold medal with a javelin throw of 82.23 meters. He later won a gold medal in javelin throw at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships. Neeraj wins gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games with a javelin throw of 86.47 meters. & Nbsp;

The Distinguished Service Medal (PVSM) is India’s military award. The award is given to members of the Defense Forces who have made significant contributions to the field of peace and service. All categories of personnel in the Indian Armed Forces, including the Regional Army, Auxiliary and Reserve Forces, Nursing Officers and other members of the Nursing Services, are eligible for the award. & Nbsp;
