Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set a target of 174 runs to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday, thanks to the superb batting of Mahipal Lamour (42) and captain Faf du Plessis (38). Bangalore scored 173 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Mahesh Thikshana took three wickets for Chennai. While Moeen Ali took two wickets, Dwayne Pretorius took one wicket.
Earlier, electing to bat after losing the toss, Bangalore made a great start in the powerplay and scored 57 runs without losing a wicket. But after that, Bangalore suffered two blows in the form of captain Faf du Plessis (38) and Glenn Maxwell (3), taking Bangalore to 76 for two after 9 overs. However, opener Virat Kohli batted brilliantly at the other end and hit many boundaries. But Kohli was bowled by Ali after scoring 30 runs in 33 balls with the help of three fours and a six, which Bangalore lost for three wickets at 79 runs.
Mahipal Lamlor and Rajat Patidar, who came at number four and fifth, did the job of handling the faltering innings. Both took the victory score beyond 100. But in the 16th over, Patidar (21) was caught by Mukesh off the ball of Pretorius, which gave Bangalore the fourth blow for 124 runs. Dinesh Karthik, at number six, batted brilliantly with Lamor as Bangalore scored 155 for the loss of four wickets in 18 overs.
In the 19th over, Thikshana conceded just two runs in the dismissal of Lamor (42 runs in 27 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes), Wanindu Hasaranga (0) and Shahbaz Ahmed (1). In the 20th over, Karthik scored a total of 16 including two sixes off Pretorius’s balls, but Harshal Patel was run out without opening the account, leaving Bangalore for 173 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.
