Ranji Trophy: Mumbai in the final without winning the semi-final, MP did amazing after 23 years
life full of challenges
The journey to reach here has not been easy for Kumar Karthikeya in cricket. He had even once made up his mind to quit cricket. Kumar’s father Shyamnath Singh is a head constable in the UP Police. He had told some time ago that once when he went to buy a cricket kit for his son, the shopkeeper had said that if he did not have the ability to buy, then why did he go to the shop. At that time he did not have full money to buy expensive kits. Shyamnath bought the half-finished kit without giving any answer to the shopkeeper and came home.

factory work
Kartikeya told in an interview that he has seen poverty nearby. Apart from learning cricket in Delhi, he also worked in a factory in Ghaziabad. For this, he had to travel 70-80 km from Ghaziabad to Delhi every day. During this, whenever he felt hungry, he used to quench the hunger by eating biscuits. Kumar Karthikeya was born in Sultanpur, UP, but plays cricket for MP.

Mumbai Indians gave a chance
Kumar Karthikeya, who made his debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2018, had a few chances in domestic matches. But he got his real identity from IPL. In IPL 2022, Karthikeya was associated with Mumbai Indians as a nets bowler. There this left-arm spinner impressed the team management so much that Karthikeya joined the main team after the player got injured. After this he also got a chance to debut in the very next match. In that match, for Rajasthan, Karthikeya took the wicket of Sanju Samson for 19 runs in 4 overs.

Mumbai’s challenge in the final
In the final of the Ranji Trophy, Madhya Pradesh and Kumar Karthikeya will face a tough challenge for Mumbai. The young batsmen of Mumbai are running in excellent form. Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored centuries in three consecutive innings. Prithvi Shaw gives an explosive start. Apart from the run machine Sarfaraz Khan in the team, there are young Suved Parkar and Hardik Tamore. If Madhya Pradesh wants to stop them, then it will have to do wonders with Karthik’s ball. If they are successful in doing so then after 88 years Madhya Pradesh can become the Ranji champion.
