KL Rahul injured, out of first Test against New Zealand

Kanpur: Even before the start of the Test series against New Zealand, the Indian team has suffered a setback. Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the first Test starting on Thursday (November 25). The match is to be played in Kanpur.

The Indian team was confused about the opening batting. Rahul’s injury has raised concerns among Indian team management. Rohit Sharma is not playing in this series. So, Virat Kohli is also resting in the first Test match.

The nature of Rahul’s injury is yet to be ascertained. Shubhaman Gill with Mayank Agarwal started the innings in the team’s net session. Pujara is the vice-captain in the first match of the series and he also batted.

It is being speculated that Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav may get a chance to start their Test careers. Determined, however, that they may have a chance in the middle order. Earlier, it was thought that Shubhaman would bat in the middle order, but now it seems that in Rahul’s absence, Gill will open the innings.

Indian team for the first Test: Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara (Vice Captain), Shubhaman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Riddhiman Saha, KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna.

A total of two Tests are to be played between India and New Zealand. The first match will start on November 25 in Kanpur and the second match will start on December 3 in Mumbai. Ajinkya Rahane will captain the team in the first match, while Virat Kohli will return in the second Test.
