It would be difficult to ignore Umran Malik’s natural pace: Ian Chappell

Sydney, May 8 (PTI) Former Australia captain Ian Chappell feels India’s cricket establishment has shown patience in producing world-class bowlers over the years but it will be difficult to ignore Umran Malik’s real pace in the near future.

Chappell, one of the most respected voices in world cricket, said the advent of the IPL has acted as a catalyst for India’s “extreme depth in fast bowling” and it is showing no signs of diminishing.

Chappell wrote in his column for ‘ESPNcricinfo’, “The fast bowling revolution in India is showing no signs of slowing down. Umran Malik’s name is in the hearts and minds of those who watch IPL. In the past, India have shown patience in developing their fast bowling group but it is difficult to ignore Malik’s real pace.

He said, “In a world where fast bowling is valued, there are many stars coming out of India now.”

IPL has indeed played a huge role in turning India into a major force in world cricket.

Chapon said, “India are a strong international team at present and will continue to be a leading team if they continue to show the passion they need for it. India should thank the highly successful IPL for this success. ,

Chappell feels that India’s fast bowling is a matter of ‘envy’ for the rival nations.

“The development of star fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammad Siraj has played a vital role in enhancing India’s reputation overseas. There is depth in this group. The team also has options like Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur. ,
