The International Cricket Council (ICC) gave a shock to West Indies star batsman Nicholas Pooran. Actions have been taken to this extent for openly opposing the decision of the umpires. 15 percent cut in match fees. Level-1 ICC gives one demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct. The ICC has revealed that Nicholas Pooran admitted his mistake before the match referee.
What actually happened..
This incident took place in order to achieve the target set by India in the second T20. Arshadeep Singh came to bowl the 4th over. Kyle Meyers tries to play the 4th ball down the leg side. But the ball went straight without hitting the bat and hit the pad. After the Indian players appealed, the umpire declared it out. Then after discussing it with Pooran who was at the non-striking end.. the mayor went to review. In the third umpire review, the umpire called. This forced the mayor to back down.
Nicholas Pooran expressed his displeasure with the decision of the field umpire in this order. If you don’t give out, it’s not out, he openly expressed his anger. The field umpire complained to the match referee about Pooran’s conduct. Pooran also admitted the mistake and was fined and released. This is the first demerit point that Pooran has received in the last two years.
