It was only at the end of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that there would be major changes in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. As expected, similar news is also coming just before the mega oxen for IPL 2022. The team wants to retain New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and charismatic spinner Rashid Khan, but it does not seem to be happening.
Retaining two players would mean that the purse would be reduced by Rs 24 crore out of Rs 90 crore while retaining one player would cost Rs 14 crore. If the franchise retains two players, then the number one player will get 14 and the second will get 10 crores.
Rashid Khan is such a spinner, for whom all the franchises can compete. If he appears in the auction then there is no doubt that Rashid will get a big bid. Kane Williams, on the other hand, is a key player for the team.
Notably, as per BCCI rules, each team is allowed to retain a maximum of four players. The franchises have to submit their list of retained players by November 30 and the IPL mega auction will be held next month.
