IPL Playoff Scenario: Still 5 contenders for the playoff, Virat Kohli’s fate rests on Rohit Sharma, understand the whole equation

Mumbai: In the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2022, so far two teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the playoffs. Both teams are participating for the first time this season. Gujarat’s team has 20 points and they are sure to remain at number one. However, whether Lucknow will remain at number two or not is yet to be decided. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are completely out of the race for the playoffs.

Presenting the claim for Rajasthan Top-2
The Rajasthan Royals team has not yet officially qualified for the playoffs, but the team looks set to reach the last four. He has 16 points in 13 matches. Rajasthan team is ahead of Lucknow in run rate. In such a situation, if he gets victory in his last match against Chennai Super Kings, then Rajasthan will finish second in the table. Even after defeat in this match, due to good run rate, the team can reach the playoffs.

Collision between Bangalore and Delhi
Bangalore has to play its last match against table topper Gujarat Titans today. The team has to win this match to stay in the race for the playoffs. The team has 14 points in 13 matches. Delhi also has 14 points in 13 matches, but their run rate is +0.255 while Bangalore’s is -0.323. In such a situation, Bangalore will have to win their last match as well as hope that Delhi beats Mumbai Indians in the last match. If Delhi wins the last match, it can reach the playoffs.

Punjab-Hyderabad almost outside
Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have 12-12 points in 13-13 matches. These two have to play with each other. The team winning this match will only have 14 points. Currently Hyderabad’s run rate is -0.230 and Punjab’s is -0.43. If any of these have to reach the playoffs, then both Delhi and Bangalore will have to lose their match from inside. After this, a team will have to win big in this match.
