IPL 2023, RCB vs LSG: Puran became ‘Player of the Match’ in Lucknow’s victory, read the story of the thrill of the last over

Nicholas Pooran: The 15th match of the 16th season of IPL was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Supergiants. This match was played at RCB’s home ground Chinnaswamy Stadium. In this very exciting match, Lucknow defeated Bangalore by just 1 wicket on the last ball of the 20th over. There were a lot of ups and downs in this match. In this match, Niklas Puran of Lucknow scored the fastest half-century of IPL 2023. He scored 50 runs in 15 balls and put them in Lucknow’s bag in the lost match. Nicholas Pooran, who scored an inning of 62 runs in 19 balls, was adjudged the player of the match.

Lucknow captain KL Rahul decided to bowl first after winning the toss but RCB scored 212 runs under the leadership of their captain Faf. Batting first, RCB scored 212 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis scored the most runs in this match. He scored an inning of 79 runs in 46 balls at a strike rate of 171.74. Apart from him, Glenn Maxwell also played an inning of 59 runs in 29 balls at a strike rate of 203.45. This innings included 3 fours and 6 sixes. Before these two, Virat Kohli also became the victim of Amit Mishra by giving a fast start to his team in this match. Virat scored an inning of 61 runs in 44 balls, in which he hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. 

The real thrill started in the last over

After that Lucknow needed 5 runs to win in the last over and they had 3 wickets left. Harshal Patel did the last over for RCB and after that the final thrill of the match started. Jaydev Unadkat took 1 run on the first ball of Harshal Patel and Mark Wood came on strike. Mark Wood was bowled on Harshal’s second and best ball. After that Ravi Bishnoi came on the field to bat, who cleverly touched the third ball with his bat and ran away to take two runs. Even on the fourth ball, Ravi equalized the score by taking 1 run. Now Lucknow needed 1 run from 2 balls to win and Jaydev Unadkat was on strike. 

Harshal tried to dismiss Bishnoi in the manner of Mankading on the last ball, but the umpire said that he had gone too far for bowling, so the runout was not valid. Harshal once again bowled the sixth ball and that ball went to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik without hitting the bat, but he could not collect that last ball properly. By the time Dinesh Karthik caught the ball and threw it, Avesh Khan and Bishnoi ran to take a single in the bye and sealed the match for Lucknow.
